Mistgate Playtest

Arriving on the Autumnal Mist Isle of Naud, four unlikely companions meet and travel to the village of Mirathi. The group consists of Ris, a nephari arcane hacker; her brother Gideon a seasoned mistbreaker deckhand and blood sorcerer; Symbol an esper awakened into the statue of a warrior-monk from a monastary deep within the Mists; and Mophyz, a kobold scholar seeking to learn more of the world beyond his sheltered upbringing.

Naud is only the first step in their adventure, what path they decide to take and where they decide to go next all begins here.

You can follow their adventure on Youtube, as well as follow it here on Lorecall where we will be posting updates along with a review of some of the mechanics we're testing.

The characters all started at level 3, giving them all access to Mistgate-specific archtypes. Each is playing a unique archetype that is designed specifically for the Mistgate setting:

  • The Arcane Hacker is a rogue archetype that excels at infiltrating magitech networks and using magitech devices. We're watching this class especially closely because of how niche it is to the setting and how dependent it could be on a specific narrative.
  • The Blood Magic sorcerous origin sounds nefarious, but it is about balance. This sorcerer's power comes from the lifeforce of all things.
  • The Way of the Void monk is trained in being able to increase their power as their training expands. This power is achieved by opening "gates" which allow more energy to flow through a monk's body.
  • The Mist Domain cleric is well versed in all things related to planar travel and the Mists in general.

In addition three of the four characters are playing lineages that are specific to the player characters in the Mistgate campaign setting: nephari, esper, and kobold. We'll visit these and other aspects of the Mistgate setting more in future updates.
